Jeff Hankins, a 1979 graduate of SIA, spoke to the 11th and 12th grade Career Education classes on Friday about his path to becoming a commercial pilot. Hankins became involved in ROTC during his junior year at Mississippi State and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation. He then completed a year of pilot training at Vance AFB in Enid, Oklahoma. He served 7 years in South Carolina and Okinawa, Japan where he flew an F-15 fighter jet. After leaving the Air Force, he spent 3 years as an Ag pilot and then begin flying for FedEx. He gave the students advice on becoming a commercial pilot and answered students' questions.
